The Great Integra Road Trip

Posted July 19, 2017

Summer is the perfect time for a road trip. Canada has some of the most beautiful sights and awesome weather in the summer so we decided to take you on a Cross-Canada road trip to visit some of our locations. We’ll be making one stop in each province, so follow us on Twitter to see where we are each week.

Week 1 we’ll be heading to the Yukon to visit our location in Whitehorse! Whitehorse is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights but it also has many other great sights to see.

For somewhere to stay in Whitehorse, try the Coast High Country Inn. It’s located just off Main Street so you can get a good night sleep while still being within walking distance of Main Street.

For some great BBQ in Whitehorse, visit Klondike Rib and Salmon to get a real taste of Canada’s North. We hear that their fish and chips is a must-try!

For some rest and relaxation, visit the Takhini Hot Pools. In the early 1940s the first pool was built here by Mr. Bill Rowland for the American Army to use during the war. Now everyone is welcome to experience the 47°C pool.

Week 2 we’ll be heading to our location in Oakville, ON.  Oakville is located in between Toronto and Hamilton so you can get a feel for the small town life.

For a place to spend the night, try the Country Inn and Suites by Carlson. Located right near Oakville’s Entertainment District, you’ll be sure to see all the main sights.

For some exceptional Italian food, go to Cucci and try the Pacific Snapper. Don’t forget to try the dessert too – you’ve got to try the Tiramisu.

To get out and enjoy some sun, head to the Gairloch Gardens in Oakville. Once owned by Colonel William Mackendrick in the early 1900s, Gairloch Gardens in the perfect retreat to experience some of the most beautiful native plants.

Week 3 we will be going to visit our two locations in Winnipeg, MB. Winnipeg is well-known for being blustery cold in the winter but you’ll love their temperate summers!

For a place to spend the night in Winnipeg, try the Fort Garry Hotel. It’s Winnipeg’s architectural landmark and will be sure to impress you and your family. Watch out though because it’s thought to be haunted.

For another historic experience, try 529 Wellington for dinner. It’s a historic mansion that has been converted into Winnipeg’s best steakhouse.

Finally, make sure to take the kids to the Assiniboine Park Zoo where you’ll see polar bears, tigers, leopards, red pandas, tortoises, and all kinds of fish!

Week 4 we will be stopping into our store in Regina, SK. Regina is Saskatchewan’s Capital City and has a lot of things for you and your family to do together.

For a place to stay, go to the DoubleTree by Hilton Regina. They’ll give each of your family members a warm chocolate chip cookie when you arrive and it is walking distance to downtown.

For a delicious dinner, go to Da Pizza and Curry Express. It has the best pizza and Indian food in the city. Be sure to try the Butter Chicken!

For an afternoon of interactive learning, go to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. You’ll get to learn about dinosaurs, the aboriginal peoples, geology and more! It’s great fun for kids and adults alike.

Week 5 we will be stopping into Calgary, AB to visit our numerous stores there. Calgary is known as Cow Town but there’s much more to it than just cowboys.

If you’re looking for a place to spend the night, then go to the Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel. It’s close to many downtown attractions like the Glenbow Museum, Calgary Tower and the Stephen Avenue Walk.

For a unique dining experience, go to the Minas Brazilian Steakhouse. Here you will have a selection of a huge salad bar and waiters will bring you all you can eat meat that they cut from a giant skewer onto your plate.

For a family fun afternoon, go to the Heritage Park Historical Village. You’ll get to explore old time Calgary as it was in the late 1800s. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as soon as you walk through the gates.

Our last stop on week 6 we will be to our location in Victoria, BC. Victoria is one of Canada’s most historical and tourist-friendly destinations. Whether you love the water, architecture, food, or the nightlife, Victoria has something for everyone.

For a great place to spend the night – or a couple nights – check into the Delta Ocean Pointe. It’s a short distance to get to Government Street – the hub of shopping and entertainment in Victoria – and it has beautiful harbour views.

Whenever we’re in Victoria, we must go to the Flying Otter Café for lunch. It’s right in the harbour and has a floating patio. The fun décor and local menu are a treat for the whole family. For a light lunch, we recommend the Mango Chicken Salad.

Victoria has no shortage of fun activities for you and the whole family but a must see is the Butchart Gardens. We recommend taking one of the bus tours to the gardens as the bus driver will entertain you with a wide variety of information about Victoria and Butchart Gardens. Once there, give yourself a good hour or more to tour the gardens. It’s one of the most magical places you can experience. In the summer make sure to catch the fireworks show. It’s unlike any that you’ve ever seen.

We know that Canada has many unique places to visit so we hope to continue our road trip next summer and visit some of our other Integra Tire locations!

Make sure to tweet us your favourite Canadian city and its can’t miss sights!
