How to Make a Winter Emergency Kit

Whenever you are travelling long distances or in any rural areas, you should always pack an emergency winter travel kit.
One of the most important items to always have in your vehicle is a spare tire and car jack in case you get a flat tire. You should also make sure you know how to change a flat tire or at least have access to a YouTube video that shows you how to do it. Here is a great one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlyrv-h97z8
Another item to include in your winter emergency kit is a shovel. This will help you if you get stuck in the snow. You can also buy metal grippers to put under your tire in case you get stuck.
You should also make sure to pack extra warm clothes like thermal underwear, extra socks, gloves, scarfs, and a toque. It can also help to have an extra couple of blankets in your car.
Remember to pack food and water with you too. If you do get stranded for a long period of time, you’ll want to stay nourished and hydrated.
Also make sure to always carry a windshield scraper in your vehicle and it never hurts to carry extra windshield washer fluid in case you run out.
Here’s a complete list of items you should pack in your emergency travel kit:
• Spare Tire
• Car Jack
• Shovel
• Warm Clothes
• Food and water
• Flashlight with extra batteries
• Booster Cables
• First Aid Kit
• Windshield Scraper
• Extra windshield washer fluid
• Gas can
• Emergency Flare
• Car powered-cell phone charger
If you keep all these items in a tote that you can put in your truck whenever you are travelling, you won’t need to fret if you ever end up in an emergency while you’re on the road.
